History & Mission

On its return journey to Earth, the Nostromo was rerouted by its AI to investigate a mysterious signal from LV-426. The crew's investigation led to the discovery of a deadly alien lifeform, resulting in the loss of nearly all hands and the destruction of the ship. The only survivors were Ripley and Jonesy, who escaped aboard the shuttle Narcissus.

Insignia & Visual Identity

The Nostromo's crew wore distinctive patches and badges, designed by John Mollo and Ron Cobb, reflecting their roles and the ship's identity. The Weyland-Yutani "wings" insignia, NOSTROMO shoulder patches, and technical function badges were part of the official uniform, symbolizing both corporate and crew heritage.

Cultural Impact

The Nostromo's utilitarian design, detailed insignia, and tragic story have made it a lasting icon in science fiction, influencing ship and crew aesthetics in countless works since Alien's release.
